ALL-STATE QUALIFIER

On Saturday, Jan. 7, three RHS band members auditioned for the ATSSB All-State Band and Yovanney Dalgadillo (above) received first chair bass clarinet in the All-State Band. Abel Aguirre was 4th chair bass clarinet and Destinee Bluford received 20th chair clarinet. Director of Bands Adrian Acevedo said, “We are very proud of these three students for advancing to the area contest and for representing Rockdale so well. Yovanney will now participate at the ATSSB All-State Band Clinic/Concert at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention on Feb. 8-11 in San Antonio. The ATSSB All-State Band Concert will take place in the Lila Cockrell Theatre at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. We are all very proud of Yovanney for his accomplishment.”

Rockdale MDD signs agreement with Austin-based Found TX

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) recently signed an agreement with Found TX, an Austin-based marketing firm. As part of the agreement, Found TX will help the RMDD develop a community brand for Rockdale, a comprehensive marketing plan, and build a new website. Rockdale has a unique opportunity to leverage its location and the new 660-unit Cornerstone subdivision to maximize growth potential.

Drug raids continue; four busted

Four persons were arrested by Milam County Sheriff personnel Friday, Jan. 6, during an afternoon drug raid at an address in the 100 block of County Road 311 west of Rockdale.
