School board talks transportation, nutrition, maintenance and more

At Monday night’s meeting of the RISD Board of Trustees, the board recognized the Varsity Volleyball Team for advancement to the Bi-District Playoffs. Yolianna Castillo received the Texas High School Coaches Association 1st Team Academic All State Award for Volleyball.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Christmas Roundup applications available

Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway. Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.

Good school attendance vital to success beyond high school

While high school attendance may not be an exciting topic of conversation, it is extremely important for our students. Attendance is crucial for student success at any level. Poor attendance can affect many areas of the student’s academic career as well their life beyond high school.
