My favorite barista (our youngest son Jack) drove an old red Jeep with square headlights while he was in high school and college. When you got it up to 60 mph you felt like you were landing the space shuttle. It shook like an earth reentry. Very fun to drive.

Love and Learning Center of Milam County was awarded the Torch Award for Employer of the Year by Workforce Solutions of Central Texas at the Annual Workforce Awards luncheon in Killeen on Oct. 28.

‘Effects of vaping lab’

The Rockdale Junior High 7th grade science class conducted an “Effects of Vaping Lab” last week. Students had just wrapped up a unit on cell cycle, cell organelles, mitochondria and functions as well as the 11 body systems and their functions.

Five felony arrests, one traffic accident during past week

Rockdale Police Officers made five felony arrests dur ing the past week including: • Bryan Morley Freeman, 27, Cameron, was arrested on Wednesday by Sgt. Byron Frankland for criminal trespass and terroristic threat against a peace officer. He was transported directly to the Milam County Jail.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.   • James Williams, 62, Cameron, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, released.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • A report of a small fire near Apache Pass on Tuesday but were unable to locate the fire. • West US 79 and FM1786 for a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries on Tuesday.   • 1499 North FM 487 for a one vehicle accident on Friday.

The Coats family has had an exciting week. Sherri has been in Virginia for daughter Erica Starnes’ birthday. Aubrey Rasco spent the weekend in San Antonio and won first place in state gymnastics for her level. Congratulations! This was her first year to participate in this activity.
