Taking daily aspirin for your heart

Dear Savvy Senior, I’ve been taking daily aspirin for almost 20 years now because I have a family history of heart disease. But I recently read that using aspirin is not recommended anymore. What can you tell me about this change in philosophy?

Thorndale 4-H/FFA fish fry fundraiser set for July 31 at VFD rec hall The Thorndale 4-H and FFA Ag Boosters club will have a fish fry fundraiser at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department Recreation Hall.

REUNIONS

Owens Family Reunion Descendants of Joseph Benjamin & Cora Henrietta Owens will be held at the Forest Grove Christian Church on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert, and also auction items. There will also be a 50/50 drawing.

MILANO NEWS

Milano Eagle Rah-Rah Camp for girls ages 4 through 6th grade will be July 26-28 in the Milano High School gym. There is a $30 registration fee. Contact Mary Honrycutt at MHS for more information. I’ve seen school supplies making an appearance in the stores.

GAUSE NEWS

Monday morning I woke up a year older. I was born July 18, 1941. That’s a few years ago. I feel certain there are a number of others in Gause older than I am. The weather is nice this morning. It may be hotter next month. No need to complain about the cold or the hot, we get what God sends.

ROCKDALE MULTI-SERVICE CENTER MENU

Monday—Tacos, potato fries, coleslaw, cherry pie, milk. Tuesday—Hamburger steaks, macaroni and cheese, okra, rolls, fruit salad, milk. Wednesday—Chili with beans, squash, garden salad, Italian dressing, brownies, milk. Thursday—Tuna salad, potato salad, pickled beets, oatmeal-raisin cookie, milk.

Thorndale FCCLA at nationals

Thorndale FCCLA members attended the National FCCLA Conference in San Diego, CA earlier this month. Members in attendance were Emilee Baker, Madison Brian, Hailey Meadors, Morgan Meadors and Jessica Yount.

MARC membership meeting

The MARC Center held their annual membership meeting on Tuesday night and introduced new officers and board members to the MARC consumers and their families.
