4-H’ers compete in horse judging

Our Milam County 4-H members competed for the first time at the District 4-H Horse Judging on April 3 and did an awesome job! The following are the results of the contest: 4th Place Junior Team: Sloan Sanders, Levi Goodson, Warren Woods.

All totals include added money. Milam County Junior Livestock Show STEER Grand champion—Kennedy Hobbs, Thorndale 4-H, buyers D&D Farms, Little River Youth Supporters, Milam County Livestock, Rockdale Country Ford, Stoney Liquor, $58,918 total.

CRISIS COUNSELING

CRISIS COUNSELING—The American Academy of Crisis Counseling held a case studies workshop hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Brooks on Saturday morning. About 50 people attended in person and another 79 were in attendance via Zoom from Houston, Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas and Alabama.

Fishing conditions in the Hill Country

Austin GOOD. Water clear; 60 degrees; 0.74 feet low. Bass are good with many fish on docks, and some on beds, but seem to be deeper so hard to see.

New Hope Baptist holding Family/Friends Day April 24 A Family and Friends Day Program at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will be held at 3 p.m. April 24. Speaker for the program will be Dr. Dennis Brooks of New Jerusalem Church.

FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE

Rockdale Federal Credit Union said goodbye to longtime trustee Fred Marshall (R) after serving for 50 years. L.C. Richards (L), Secretary of the Board of Directors, presented him with a plaque of appreciation for his years of service.

Carbon Monoxide Death outside of Rockdale

On April 11, 2022 at approximately 3:30PM, the Milam County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Rockdale Police Department of an unattended death that occurred just outside of Rockdale City Limits.  Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel located a white male, in his 30’s, deceased.

Update on The Hump

Ten-year-old Darian “Hump” Jackson is out of the hospital and in rehab and will come home on April 19, according to his mother, Andrias Nunn. Hump has been in the hospital since August of last year with encephalitis.
