—Despite chilly and rainy weather people showed up to the farmers market on Saturday morning on Burleson Street. This Saturday promises even more vendors. The market goes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Senior Center seeking volunteers, donations The Rockdale Senior Center is in need of volunteers on Mondays to deliver Meals on Wheels twice per month. They are also asking for donations for their Angel Tree and seeking people to adopt a senior or buy items from their wish list.

Our family helped Wayne celebrate his 81st birthday Sunday. We had an enjoyable time. When you get our age, you don’t think about how many years, we are thankful we can still get around and do some things for ourselves. Time to take the Christmas tree down but that’s another chore.

Stand on promises

A lot of people know what we call the Lord’s Prayer (it’s really just a model for prayer). It’s in Matthew 6:9 and it starts out with, “Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name.” The idea that God is in Heaven is not about distance, in other words God is not far away.

No MLK Day Parade this year

According to Henry Miller, there will not be a Martin Luther King Day parade this year, however they will be having a balloon-release celebration at Sumuel Park  at 1 p.m.

Rockdale schools close until Tuesday, Jan. 18, due to COVID cases

January 12, 2022 Rockdale ISD Families, As we have shared before, we are continuously monitoring the COVID cases on our campuses in order to plan the best course of action for our students and staff.  Today numbers have reached the levels that we previously determined warrant school closure.

Milam County records 92nd COVID death

Today we report our 92nd Milam County, COVID-19 death.  This person died several days ago and had very little in terms of an underlying health condition.  Please be careful!  We have 25 new cases to report with 94 cases to discharge, leaving us with 251 confirmed, active cases in Milam County.

Caldwell girls sentenced for unlawful restraint

The following cases were handled in the Milam County Court before the Honorable Judge Steve Young today: MARINA PILAR BRINKMAN, 17, of Caldwell, was placed on twelve (12) months Deferred Adjudication with standard conditions of probation including no contact with the victim, 40 hours of community...
