In an interesting turn of events at last Monday’s Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) meeting, the industrial property, purchased by the MDD several years ago, needs to be zoned as either residential or commercial.

Wesley G. Payne of Thorndale has filed with the Republican Party as candidate for the office of Milam County Precinct 4 Commissioner. Payne is a lifelong resident of Milam County and he graduated from Rockdale High School as an honor graduate.

Christmas concerts Dec. 9, 12

The RISD Bands Christmas Concert will be held Thursday, Dec. 9. The concert will take place at the Rockdale HS Auditorium starting at 6:30pm. Featured performances are the Rockdale Junior High Beginning Band, the RJH Symphonic Band, the RHS Jazz Band and the RHS Big Blue Band.

Rockdale PD makes five felony arrests

The Rockdale Police Department made five felony arrests during the past week including: • Senaida Leigh Leslie, 40, Rockdale, was arrested on Tuesday on a Milam County warrant for probation violation of an original charge of possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram).
