CASE REPRIEVE LOOKS TO BE OVER

  It appears Milam County's week-long break from new COVID-19 cases is over.   The Reporter received an email at mid-morning Thursday advising that a Milam woman had been admitted to a Georgetown hospital and was diagnosed with the virus.

Nobody is saying it’s statistically meaningful, but it sure feels good. Milam County got a much-needed breather from new COVID-19 cases over the Memorial Day holiday weekend and beyond. The 28th Milam case of the virus was reported Thursday.

129 indictments in past two weeks

The wheels of justice are catching up. Milam County held a Milam County held a grand jury session on a second consecutive Thursday last week, with 58 persons indicted on 73 counts. The flurry of activity is, of course, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Homecoming falls victim to pandemic

Staying safe

Volunteers were taking no chances Thursday as the Central Texas Food Bank visited the KC Hall parking lot for its second of two free food distributions in May. Officials continue to ask all residents to wear masks when they leave their homes.

Voter registration for primary runoffs

The Milam County Election Department will have extended hours for voter registration Monday (June 1), from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Primary runoffs are July 14. There is one in Milam County. Pct. 1 Commissioners Richard “Opey” Watkins faces Henry “Hub” Hubnik in the Republican Primary.
