ANOTHER COVID-19 CASE IN MILAM

Milam County Judge Steve Young said Saturday there is a 17th confirmed case of COVID-19 in Milam County. He said the person was tested out-of-county and not at last Wednesday's testing in Milano. Young said the person was not hospitalized.

NO MILAM COVID-19 PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL

  Milam County Judge Steve Young said Friday morning there are no Milam County COVID-19 patients in area hospitals.  That hasn't happened since mid-March when the first two Milam cases were diagnosed.   There were still two persons hospitalized from the virus at the beginning of the week.

COUNTY UPDATES SHELTER-IN-PLACE

On Thursday Milam County Commissioners Court held an emergency session to consider the issue of implementing a new shelter in place order for the county. A new order was passed, which goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, May 1.

37 TESTED IN MILANO DURING COUNTYWIDE EVENT

  There were 37 persons tested for COVID-19 during a countywide testing session Wednesday at the Milano Volunteer Fire Department.   Results are expected by this weekend.   County Judge Steve Young said, due to the testing, the number of Milam COVID-19 cases is expected to increase.

Power outage in city from thunderstorm

Much of Rockdale woke up in the dark Wednesday morning. A post-midnight thunderstorm rumbled through town in several waves overnight and knocked out power for a large area of the city. Power was off west of the downtown area, along US 79 roughly west of Scarbrough Street.

Food program on schedule during May

The Central Texas Food Bank (C T FB) Mobile Food Pantry distribution in the KC Hall parking lot will be held on the regular dates in May, according to Rockdale Christian Services Chair Pam Warren. That’s the first and third Thursdays, May 7 and 21. Hours are 9 to 11 a.m.

A total of 770 frozen meals were distributed at the Rockdale Senior Citizens Center Thursday morning, the second distribution in two weeks. Those helping include Richard Melcher (L) and Albert Isom. Carolyn Cooper, center staffer, said another distribution is planned in early May.
