Alcoa Retirees meet March 12th The first meeting of the Rockdale Alcoa retirees will be on Thursday, March 12 at 5 p.m. at The Thorndale Memorial Veterans Hall (former VFW Hall). There will be a short meeting to elect officers at 5:45 p.m. followed by dinner.

The other night Mom made a huge bowl of chicken salad for dinner. We ate it with some on-the-vine tomatoes she picked up at Brookshire’s. It was such a “spring-y” meal even though it was just under 50 degrees.

Rockdale Elementary School would like to tell you about an exciting event that we are of fering this year to all incoming pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. We will have our annual Roundup at the Rockdale Elementary Cafeteria. The big event will be Tuesday, April 28, from 3:45-5:45 p.m.

Monday was Rockdale City Manager Chris Whittaker’s final city council meeting in Rockdale. Mayor John King presented Whittaker with an appreciation plaque commemorating his five-year-plus tenure. Whittaker’s formal resignation was accepted Monday at the close of an executive session.
