I’m a routine guy. I get up at the same time every day except Sundays, kiss the Blonde, meet her at my grandmother’s kitchen table (my prized possession), drink home brewed Cafe Du Monde coffee out of my favorite coffee mug, pray with Jennifer, walk to the office blah, blah, blah.

It took me exactly one day to polish off all of my COVID-19 snacks. I had a few peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, while watching the news reports. It’s shameful because I outran an 80-year-old woman for the last jar of Jif, which was low sodium and sweetened with natural honey.

Melton benefit postponed due to COVID-19

Due to concerns and guidelines over the COVID-19 (coronavirus) the March 22 planned benefit for Richard Melton and his family has been postponed to a later date, according to organizers. A new date will be set soon. Mr. Melton passed away March 12 from cancer.

A dreary Monday and there doesn’t seem to be much happening around town. A great day for my allergies to be giving me—and I’m sure many others—fits. The Gause VFD will have their annual barbecue fundraiser Saturday, April 4, at the fire station. Their barbecue is always delicious.

Chad Harris, an executive of Whinstone USA, has announced he is launching a new scholarship program for business students currently enrolled at a college or university in the United States or Canada. Harris is a serial entrepreneur who recently relocated from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Rockdale.

This was the month Milam County has been waiting for so long as sales tax receipts are concerned. March sales tax rebate checks from Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar showed a whopping 71.46 percent increase to date over the previous year.
