Teachers say ‘we love ya’; kids love ‘em back

They haven’t seen each other since March 6, the day before Spring Break, but teachers and kids “got together” Monday afternoon and it was touching. A “We Miss You” caravan of teachers wound its way around the city and the response was...well, just look!

RHS is still tops in Milam

Rockdale High School is the best high school in Milam County for the second straight year. That’s the opinion of U.S. News & World Report which has released its annual rankings of American High Schools. Rockdale was No. 636 in Texas and 7,562 nationally.

Rockdale senior citizens (60 and over) who picked up a first round of frozen meals April 22 and 23 can come back to the local Senior Citizens Center for some more on Thursday. Carolyn Cooper, center director, said the free meals will be distributed between 9 and 11:30 a.m.

City video cam part of evidence in Friday arrest

Rockdale police say a routine city video surveillance camera provided part of the evidence which led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Milano-area man on a sexual assault charge. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said an 18-year-old woman came to police about two days after an alleged incident.

Wayne is home from the hospital. The blood clot is much better and he is up and moving around. The weather is dreary and cloudy this Monday morning, but in a few months it will be hot and dry and no rain in sight. Coats Grocery is open 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

RHS grad makes ‘better mask’

Talk about “making a difference.” A better face mask to help block COVID-19 transmission has been developed for use in a San Antonio health care system and its creator is a 1982 graduate of Rockdale High School. Tommye (Cashaw) Austin is chief executive nurse at University Health.
