Rockdale Earth Day awarded the June Yard of the Month to Donna Cox at 1040 Cameron Avenue No. 16. She will receive a $25 gift certificate to Bloomers Garden Center in Elgin. Nominations for Yard of the Month are due on the 23rd of each month and can be sent to rockdaleearthday@yahoo.com.
Rockdale High School graduating seniors donned their caps and gowns to show grade schoolers what lies ahead for them.
During May and June, we are highlighting Milam County 4-H seniors graduating in 2021. We are proud of these youth as they have worked very hard in 4-H, most of them for over 10 years.
The Texas Legislature passed a bill last week that would help pay for construction of the “Ike Dike” that would protect portions of the upper Texas coast—especially the Houston-Galveston area— from a major hurricane.
Plans are in the works for the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fun “Sunflower Fun Run/Walk.” The event is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. There is a kids’ one mile color run at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.
