YARD OF THE MONTH— The yard of Nate Harper and Destiny Hardway (right), 427 E. Seventh Ave., has been named yard of the month for April by Rockdale Earth Day Committee. The home is owned buy Sarah Hardway. It’s the first yard of the month bestowed by the committee.

Due to COVID-19, the Austin Area Food Bank that comes to Gause Community Center on the second Tuesday of the month has been canceled until further notice. They will let me know when they will be returning and I will get the word out.

Week two of COVID-19 and the biggest news is a negative that sounds positive, at least for the time being. There have been no new cases of the deadly, incurable virus reported in the county since March 23. The total remains at two.

Rockdale’s new head football coach/athletic director isn’t new. At least, not to Rockdale. Jacob Campsey, 32, was promoted to that position Thursday afternoon by Rockdale ISD trustees on the most unique head coach selection school board meeting in school history.

Food giveaway Thursday

Just about every public event in the area has been canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but one that hasn’t is the Central Texas Food Bank’s first Thursday surplus food distribution in the KC Hall parking lot. Time is 9 to 11 a.m. It won’t look like the previous ones, however.
