Spring is a very busy time for Rockdale High School students. There are lots of sports, academic competitions, and FFA shows students will participate in.
The annual Lenten Fish Fries by Knights of Columbus Council 7014 begin Friday at the KC Hall and continue every Friday of Lent.
Hours are 5 to 7:30 p.m., or until sold out, and plates are priced at $10 each.
Rockdale’s KC Hall is located on US 79 just east of the city limits.
MINERVA—A hu ge benefit day for 16-year-old cancer patient Caitlyn Glenn, is set for Saturday at the Minerva Community Center and VFD, CR 232 Loop.
Glenn is an osteosarcoma patient.
Milam County Republicans will essentially choose winners in county-wide sheriff and prosecutor races on Tuesday.
Actually many have already voted. Early voting ends Friday with 1,602 ballots cast through Tuesday in the GOP races.
Rockdale City Manager Chris Whittaker is heading to the coast.
Well, almost to the coast. Whittaker told The Reporter Tuesday he has accepted the position of interim city manager for that Brazoria County city of about 20,000.
“My last day in Rockdale will be March 13,” he said.
Saturday’s police-firefighter banquet at the KC Hall had a special moment when the past year’s “topgun”—highest score at firing range—was announced. Winner was Ofc. Dillian Ford (R), grandson of Police Chief Thomas Harris.
