Any time is right for spicy Cajun food

Mardi Gras kind of snuck up on me this year. Not that I ever do anything anymore. I’ve just been busy so I forgot about it. Even though Mardi Gras has already passed, any time is perfect for Cajun and Creole food as far as I’m concerned.

4-H service projects continue in county

Several 4-H service projects are continuing this week in the county. Milam Touch of Love Service Project will have a monthly collection of items for the Milam Touch of Love Animal Shelter. You can drop your items off at the Extension Office, Cameron 4-H Club Meeting.

Friends of Veterans Park Memorial

Elissa Benford with Friends of Veterans Park is seeking donations to raise money for monuments honoring the five branches of the military — Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. “Even though the park is called Veterans Park, there is nothing there to honor our veterans.

Biden wins Milam while taking state

Former Vice-President Joe Biden carried Milam County Tuesday in the Democratic Presidential Primary on his way to winning the state of Texas. There were no contested county races and only one Democratic candidate in Milam. That is Sam Pickett, That is Sam Pickett, unopposed as Pct. 4 Constable.

Early voting shows increase

A total of 2,895 Milam County residents voted early in the 2020 primaries. That total combines the Republican and Democratic votes. That’s a substantial increase over the past two primary elections, one each held in presidential and non-presidential election years.

Melton cancer benefit set for March 22

A benefit is planned March 22 for Milano resident Richard Melton and family as he battles gastric cancer. He is receiving treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the event is being held to help with expenses during his battle to win this fight.
