City eyeing virtually no hike in tax rate

With Rockdale city residents now facing a new tax from another entity—see story this page—the Rockdale City Council plans to virtually eliminate a proposed 3.81-cent tax rate increase.

6.5-cent tax rate imposed for clinic

Rockdale Hospital District directors unanimously voted Thursday to impose a 6.5-cent property tax on district residents, currently those who live within the 1994 Rockdale city limits. That’s 10.4 cents lower than the original 16.9 cents proposed. Tax revenue will go to the new CHI St.

Chase at Temple Buc-ees ends search

TEMPLE—Apparently the legendary Texas mega-convenience store Buc-ees really does have everything. On Sunday night it had the 42-year-old Hutto man for whom the Milam County Sheriff’s Department has been searching in connection with multiple theft and burglary charges.
