Nine draw 20th District Court terms

CAMERON—Nine persons were sentenced recently in 20th District Court, as follows: • Justin Douglas Young, 24, Cameron, 14-year prison term after pleading guilty to aggravated assault with deadly weapon-family violence.

Stash Your Trash set Saturday at Fair Park The annual spring Stash Your Trash event for Rock-dale residents is set for 8 a.m. to 12-noon Saturday at Fair Park. Residents will be able to dispose of many items free in roll-off containers.

New PD debut

Wednesday, April 17 is set to be the first day of use for Rockdale’s new police department. An open house is tentatively set for May 4.

Vehicle recovered

Rockdale Police recovered a vehicle last Wednesday which had been reported stolen and arrested a 16-year-old juvenile female. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the vehicle had sustained some damage. He said the juvenile was charged with unauthorized use of motor vehicle and was released to a parent.

Here is the Milam County Jail Log for April 2-8. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

RIBBON CUTTING

A ribbon cutting was recently held for a new business Medicare Champions owned and operated by Dametrus Lane, located at 129 West Cameron (US 79). The owner was joined by, her family, partner and friends along with Chamber Board and Ambassadors for the celebration of the new business opening.

ORGANIZATIONS

Historical Society seeks quilts for May 4 exhibit The Rockdale Historical Society will host a quilt exhibit May 4 at the I&GN Historical Depot and is now accepting quilts to display. Anyone interested should contact Gene Stork at 512-446-2551 or Pat Jackson at 512-446-2956.

Activities ahead this spring

There are plenty of upcoming activities in Rockdale. On Saturday we have several things happening. Linwood Acres Garden Club is having their plant exchange at the Chamber from 9 a.m. to 12-noon or when they run out. That night is Place of Hope “Hope Night”, which will be at the KC Hall.
