MISD scholarship golf tourney set for Saturday

MILANO NEWS The annual Milano ISD scholarship golf tournament will be held Saturday at Rockdale Country Club. Cost is $75 per player and is a four-person scramble event. The tournament will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Holy Week Revival starts April 15 Allen AME Church will host a revival during Holy Week 6:30 p.m., April 15-18. The church will host the Paul Quinn District Worship Service titled “The Last Seven Words” 6 p.m., Friday, April 19. Local pastors will preach throughout the week at 216 E. Third St.

Palm Sunday

On what is now called “Palm Sunday,” Jesus Christ rode a donkey into Jerusalem while villagers welcomed him and waved palm branches. This is mentioned in each of the Biblical Gospels and occurs a week before His subsequent resurrection.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome. Donations may also be taken to 11 RCS-member churches.

CAMERON—Baked goods winners from the recent Milam County Junior Livestock Show competition have been announced as follows by County Agent Micah Holcombe: Grand champion— Brinley Patterson, Cameron 4-H. Reserve champion— Harleigh Barrett, Thorn-dale 4-H.

Milam 4Hers win at Navarro contest

MILAM 4-H NEWS Milam County 4-H members competed at the Navarro Consumer Contest. The senior team made of Mallory McDaniel, Scott Widner and Hunter Hux won first place at the contest. Individually, Macy McDaniel won third place, Widner won fourth and Hux won ninth.

Herbicide training April 18

THE AG SIDE An Auxin Herbicide Training for cotton growers will be conducted on Thursday April 18, at The Buckholts Community Center, 110 West Main in Buckholts. Council nixes bid

City council members rejected a bid to lease the former Rockdale city landfill off County Road 323, southeast of town, Monday after several area residents spoke in opposition to “a shooting range” at the site.
