Residents share ideas on water project, rates

A crowd of about 45 weren’t shy telling City Manager Chris Whittaker their ideas on how upcoming water rate hikes should be handled—and more—during a sometimes lively discussion Thursday at the city library.

Late Cameron priest on list of accusations

CAMERON—A late Catholic priest, who once served a former Cameron congregation for a dozen years, is one of 22 persons in the Diocese of Austin named last week as having been “credibly accused” of committing sexual abuse against a minor.

Water Action Group meets on Thursday

QUICK LOOK The third in a series of meetings on Rock-dale’s water-sewer plan and projects is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the city library. This one will have a different “feel” than the two town hall meetings previously held, according to City Manager Chris Whittaker.

Tax deadline is Thursday

Sherry Mueck, Milam County Tax Collector, reminds county residents their 2018 ad valorem taxes are due by Thursday unless they chose the split payment option, The county tax office in Cameron and Rockdale Substation in the One-Stop Center are offering extended hours on that day.
