Meth in drink cup nets arrest in traffic stop

POLICE REPORT Methamphetamine in a soft drink cup containing soda netted drug charges after a traffic stop last week in Rock-dale. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the vehicle was stopped on a license plate infraction.

NEW MILANO FIRE TRUCK

—The City of Milano Volunteer Fire Department has acquired this excess military vehicle through the Dept. of Defense Firefighter Property Program plus a $20,000 grant from the Rural Volunteer Firefighter Assistance Program to purchase a new “slip on unit” for the department.

Lanterns, fund raiser at railroad museum

CAMERON—There’s lots happening at the Milam County Railroad Museum in the former J.C. Penney building on the courthouse square, next to the Milam County Treasurer Office, The museum is displaying a collection of railroad lanterns and is awarding an N-scale model railroad in a fund raiser.

Very cloudy this Monday morning. For all of you students and teachers on spring break, I hope that the weather clears quickly with lots of sunshine. There will be a track meet here on March 19. It will start as soon as classes finish. And then STAAR testing begins!

Milano High School’s One-Act Play cast and crew competed at district contest on March 7 at Yoe High School Performing Arts Center in Cameron and were picked to advance from the contest. The company did scenes from “Flowers for Algernon.
