Rockdale’s ‘Miracle Dog’ gets her home

In October she had been hit by a vehicle and was facing a lifetime crippled or likely being put down. But generous Rockdale came to the rescue and on Friday, “Ginger the Miracle Dog,” tail wagging and perfectly healthy, departed for a forever home in the country.

Rockdale man dies in crash

A 51-year-old Rockdale man died Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision just north of Rockdale on FM 1712. State Trooper Michael McHale said Christopher Hooks was pronounced dead at the scene, one-and-one-half miles north of Rockdale by Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Sam Berry.

Incident at lot nets 2 arrests

Plea ends Gause homicide case

A Gause man pleaded guilty recently to possessing a prohibited weapon, a plea which also ended a homicide case. Eddie Wayne Wright drew five years deferred adjudication in 20th District Court.

Gause ISD out for spring break next week

GAUSE NEWS Gause ISD students and teachers will be out of school for spring break next week, March 12-16. Everyone involved is hoping the weather will be nice for planned trips or staying home and getting caught up on activities that have had to be postponed or just haven’t gotten done.

FIRST FRIDAY

The usual large crowd was on hand Friday morning at the city library for the free monthly First Friday get-together. This edition featured a brief address by volunteer Dave Melton (above, right) on plans for the 2018 Earth Day in Rockdale. Earth Day activities are set for April 20 and 21.
