Alford

Jean Alford, 91, of Rockdale died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at Renaissance Villa in Rockdale.

Services were held Sunday, Sept. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Matt Higginbotham of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Alford was born June 26, 1929, in Rockdale to Braxton B. and Elsie M. (Yoakum) McQuinn.

On June 12, 1948, she married Weldon Alford in Rockdale.

Mrs. Alford was a homemaker and had also worked as a telephone operator with Southwestern Bell for seven years, retiring in 1952.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

She enjoyed yard work, gardening, sewing, sports, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Weldon Alford on July 3, 2008; her parents; two sisters, Mary Ellen Brannon on April 16, 1971, Peggy Jo Stauffer on April 23, 2019; and a brother, James Bruce McQuinn on May 19, 2002.

Survivors are a son, Kenny Alford and wife Melissa of Richmond; three daughters, Debbie Kaderka and husband Johnnie of Houston, Donna Smith and husband Owen of Hilltop, Patti Morgan and husband Randy of Rockdale; seven grandchildren, Amber Robinson and husband Eric, Courtney McGee and husband Michael, Kelsey Thurman and husband Andrew, Whitney Booth and husband Darel, Brandy Brooks and husband Jimmy, Kayla Philbrook and husband Garet, Jared Alford and wife Carolyn.

Also, 16 great-grandchildren, Jace Robinson, Kyndal Robinson, Alli McGee, Kennedy Robinson, Brynn Robinson, Carson Thurman, Carter Thurman, Brooklyn Thurman, Madden Brooks, Morgan Brooks, Maverick Brooks, Peyton McGee, John Booth, Owen Booth, Dain Booth, Nathan Alford, and one on the way.

Pallbearers were Jared Alford, Jace Robinson, Eric Robinson, Andrew Thurman, Jimmy Brooks, Michael McGee, Darel Booth and Garet Philbrook.
