Alice Marie Ottmer Mowdy

Alice Marie Ottmer Mowdy, 80, of Rockdale passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale, with Pastor Garland Moffet officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mowdy was born July 28, 1943, in Sharp to Robert Ottmer and Ella T. Piske Ottmer.

On Sept. 3, 1944, she was baptized at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts.

She went to school in Sharp, then graduated from Rockdale High School in 1963.

On Aug. 22, 1964, she married the love of her life, Homer Rudolph Mowdy, at Yarrellton Baptist Church in the Yarrelton community. They made their home in Rockdale, where they were blessed with three children.

Mrs. Mowdy was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and nanna. She was loved by all.

She enjoyed watching The Food Network Channel, listening to Molly B Polka Party, cooking and spending time with family.

She was a member of White Stone Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Mowdy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ella Ottmer; a brother, Robert Lee Ottmer; and a brother- in-law Sam Ferguson.

Survivors are her husband of 58 years, eight days short of 59, Homer Rudolph Mowdy; two daughters, Kimberly Thompson and husband Steve of Cameron, Sherry Ramirez and husband Danny of Rockdale; a son, Terry Mowdy of Rockdale; a brother, Roy Ottmer of Cameron; two sisters, Joyce Ferguson of Fairfield, Kathy Vansa and husband Leroy of Cameron; and her grandchildren, LeAnna Mowdy, Brandon and MaKayla Ramirez; also, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
