Burke A l len Bauerschlag, 77, of Thorndale passed away on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at his home in Thorndale.

A memorial service will be held a t 2 p . m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Bauerschlag was born Nov. 29, 1946, to Elmo and Vera (Beard) Bauerschlag Bauerschlag in Taylor.

On Sept. 28, 1968, he married Evelyn Wellman in Brenham.

He graduated from Texas A&M in 1969 with a degree in Poultry Science.

Mr. Bauerschlag was a deputy sheriff for Milam County. He then became the Milam County Pct. 4 Commissioner for 16 years.

He was a member at Connelly Communit y Church. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge No. 978 and the Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Bauerschlag was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Vera Bauer schlag; a brother, Harry Bauerschlag; a brother-in-law, Dick Jones; a neice-in-law, Stephanie Bauerschlag; and parentsin- law, Raymond Sr. and Cariie Wellmann.

Survivors are his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn Bauerschlag; a son, Reid Bauerschlag and wife Elaine; a sister, Diane Jones; two grandchildren, Tor i Bauer schlag and Cooper Bauerschlag; two great-grandchildren, Parker Jean Easley, and Brody Dale Easley; a dear friend, Justin Easley; and a brother- in-law, Raymond Wellman Jr. and wife Rebecca; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
