Dorman Andrew Bell, 92, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 4, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial followed at the Locklin Cemetery near San Gabriel.

Mr. Bell was born May 24, 1928, to Thomas Andrew Bell and Lena Pearl Turner Bell in Foreman, Arkansas.

He graduated Independence High School in Independence, Oregon.

After two years of honorable service in the U.S. Navy, he married Joyce Berry.

Mr. Bell received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Arkansas A&M in Monticello, Arkansas. He was treasurer of the National Honor Society and was selected Who’s Who Among Students in Colleges and Universities.

Mr. Bell was employed by Dow Chemical in Freeport for 28 years.

Following retirement, he worked for Beckman and IBM.

Mr. Bell was also an avid genealogist and enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

An ordained deacon in the Baptist church, he sang in the choir and taught youth groups. He later sang in The Bosque River Boys Gospel Quartet.

Mr. Bell was a wonderful example for friends and family with his music ministry and Christian leadership.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce, along with five children, Letha Brashear (husband Ken), Linda Polk, Leah Mueller (husband Casey), Eddie Bell (wife Janice), Steve Bell (wife Robin); also, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews.
