THORNDALE—On Sept. 4, 2023, God called Dean Wayne Betak home.

Dean was born o n Ma r c h 26, 1969, to Edward and Sharon Betak in Taylor.

He was baptized and c on f i r med at St . Paul Lutheran Church. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School and then graduated from Thorndale High School in 1987.

On Nov. 21, 1992, he married his high school sweetheart, Lori Marie Hilton. They have a daughter, Taryne Shea, and a son, Bradley Dean.

Dean worked at Alcoa for 25 years and worked for Patin Construction for the past five years.

He was on the Thorndale ISD school board for seven years.

Dean had an outgoing personality and loved being around people. He never missed a party. He was larger than life and was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Everyone that met him loved him.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing and playing games. You could always find him playing dominoes and cards with his family on Sunday afternoon. He enjoyed watching his children play sports when they were in school. The past two years he was proud to watch Bradley coach his junior high teams in Hutto.

Dean was preceded in death by his father, Edward Betak.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lori; daughter, Taryne; son, Bradley; mother, Sharon; brothers, Bo and Lance (Crispin); sister, Misty (Scott) Zieschang; sister-inlaw, Kelly (Dwayne) David; in-laws, Frankie and Bonnie Hilton; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Pallbearers are Michael Becker, Tandy Betak, Darren Biar, Dwayne David, Kyler Kovar and Eric Melde.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul General Fund or Build the Vision Fund at P.O. Box 369, Thorndale, TX 76577.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
