Beyer

Mary L. Beyer, 76, a longtime Rockdale resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Winnie L. Nursing Center in Cameron, after a sudden illness.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 5, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rock-dale with Rev. John Seaton of St. John’s United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore with Rev. Edwin Wallek Jr. of Skidmore United Methodist Church officiating.

Mrs. Beyer was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Kenedy to Alfred Emil and Melinda Jane (Alex) Dieringer.

She was raised in Tynan and attended school at Skidmore I.S.D.

On June 15, 1960, she married Glen Nelton Beyer at First Methodist Church in Beeville. They lived in George West before moving to Rockdale where she lived the past 53 years.

Mrs. Beyer was retired from Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale. Her faith led her to volunteer at her church, the Food Pantry and Heavenly Treasures in Rockdale.

Mrs. Beyer was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Bey-er on July 4, 1976; a son-in-law, Thomas Clide “Chuck” Betchan on Nov. 26, 2007; her parents; a brother, Alton Dieringer; a brother-in-law, Monty O’Bryant; and a sister-in-law, Margie Dieringer.

Survivors are two daughters, Denise Lynette Betchan of Rock-dale, Darla Rae Willingham and husband Jay of Milano; three grandchildren, Mendy Rae Baker and husband Chris, Thomas Glen Betchan and wife Ammi, Jacob Charles Willingham and wife Lyndsie; a great-granddaughter, Harper Jo Betchan; two brothers, Garland Dieringer and wife Gerrie of Portland, Darvin Dieringer of Gonzales; three sisters, Norma Schroedter and husband Edroy of El Campo, Eleanora “Tootsie” O’Bryant of George West, Darlene Dilley and husband Jim of Ingleside; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Dieringer of Calallen.

Pallbearers were Jay Willing-ham, Thomas Betchan, Jacob Willingham, Chris Baker, Jeff Miller and Lee Parsley.
