A funeral service for Deborah Sue Praesel Brandt, 48, of Brenham will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brandt died Sunday, Aug. 2, in College Station after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 28, 1972, to John Ralph and Birdie (Ullrich) Praesel in Rockdale.

Mrs. Brandt was baptized on March 19, 1972, with her uncle and aunt, Edward and Christine Buscha, as her sponsors and confirmed on Aug. 25, 1987, both at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.

She graduated from Rockdale High School in 1990 and she attended Temple Junior College. She graduated from Mary Hardin-Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

On Aug. 28, 1992, she married Shaun Allred at Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. From this marriage were born two sons, Clinton John Allred and Garrett Blaine Allred.

On Dec. 10, 2005, she married Ivan Dell Brandt in Brenham.

Mrs. Brandt enjoyed helping others and always had a smile on her face.

She was employed with the Department of Aging and Disabled in Brenham for seven years.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Ralph Praesel; her grandparents, C. Arthur Jr. and Ida Wanda (Schramm) Praesel, and Jacob Sr. and Tonie (Spies) Ullrich; three uncles, Fritz Finke, Arthur Gus Praesel Sr. and Charles Ernest Praesel; and an aunt, Mary Fleming.

Survivors are her husband, Ivan Dell Brandt of Brenham; two sons, Clinton John Allred and Garrett Blaine Allred, both of Brenham; her mother and stepfather, Birdie and James E. Kristoff of Rockdale; a sister and brother-in-law, Tammy L. and Charles Alford of Rockdale; her mother-in-law, Joanna Stevens of Bacliff; two brothers-in-law, David Brandt of San Angelo, Stan Brandt and wife Julianna of Jundai, Brazil; her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Buscha and Brenda Lovell of Bacliff, Lena Duncan and Belinda Gutierrez of Wichita, Kansas.

Also, two nieces, Johna Cheyenne and Jaclyn Sierra Alford of Rockdale; her aunts and uncles, Lynwood Ullrich, Aliene Finke, Katherine and Vernon Wellmann, Christine and Edward Buscha, Jacob Jr. and June Ullrich, Tonetta and James Schlemmer, Ernest and Martha Ullrich, Viginia Praesel, Mary Ann Praesel, and Evelyn Krueger; and many cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Clinton Allred, Garrett Allred, Zane Brandt, Dalton Brandt, Zachary Buscha, Justin Praesel, Clayton Praesel and Wyatt Wellmann.
