LEXINGTON—Funeral services for Robert Earl Brister Sr., 80, of Lexington where held Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington with Rev. Reagan Seaton officiating. Burial followed at Lexington Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Brister died Friday, Feb. 21, in Caldwell. He was born on July 8,

He was born on July 8, 1939, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Jessie Elijah and Dora Bell (Rockhold) Brister.

He married Priscila Letterman on Jan. 17, 1959, in Gloster, Mississippi.

Mr. Brister began working as a welder and boilermaker at Ethol Corp. in Louisiana. After leaving Ethol, he worked for IGC in Rockdale on the dragline erection crew, and finally at the power plant at the University of Texas in Austin.

He was a member of the Boilermaker Welder Union, the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, Masonic Lodge No. 138, and the Lee County Wildlife Association.

Mr. Brister served his community by volunteering with several different Boy Scout troops, served as an assistant coach for the Lexington Little League, and was a board member of the Lexington Memorial Cemetery Association.

He was also an active member of the Lexington United Methodist Church.

Mr. Brister enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, hunting, tending to his cattle, repairing equipment, talking on his CB and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Dora Brister; a brother, Arthur James Brister; and a nephew, Benny Douglas Brister Jr.

Survivors are his wife, Priscilla Brister of Lexington; two sons, Robert Brister Jr. and wife Arlene, Richard Brister and wife Terri, all of Lexington; six grandchildren, Robert J. “B.J. Brister, Dustin Carl Brister, Dalton Wayne Brister and Delaney Marie Brister, all of Lexington, Zackary Lee Brister and wife Rebekah of Virginia, Dylan Michael Brister of Round Rock; two great grandchildren, Jason Brister and Allie Brister, both of Carrizo Springs; and a brother, Benny Douglas Brister of Louisiana.
