Caffey

Clifford G. Caffey, 88, of Rockdale died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan.

Memorial services are set for 10:30 a.m. with the visitation at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Caffey was born Oct. 18, 1931, in the Tracy community of Milam County to Garland and Iona (Reed) Caffey.

He lived most of his life in Rockdale, except for seven years in Bryan.

After his retirement, Mr. Caffey returned to Rockdale, where he lived the past 32 years.

In 1959 he began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Rockdale, then transferred to the Post Office in Bryan, where he retired in 1987 as the Manager of Customer Service.

Mr. Caffey was a member of First Christian Church in Rock-dale.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Caffey was a member of Rockdale VFW Post 6525 and a charter member of Rockdale Country Club.

On Nov. 18, 1972, he married Joy Dieckman in Cameron.

Mr. Caffey was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Iona Caffey, and a stepdaughter, Vicki Currie.

Survivors are his wife, Joy Caffey of Rockdale; two sons, Russell Caffey and wife Arleen of Rockdale, Jeffrey Caffey and wife Cathy of New Braunfels; two daughters, Brenda Towns and husband Richard, Penney Muston and husband Dwayne, all of Rockdale; a stepson, Dale Currie and wife Donna of Rock-dale; two stepdaughters, Debbie Currie of Ventura, California, Linda Sjogren and husband Keith of Whitehouse; and a sister, Floye Nell Gilleland of Cameron; also, 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
