ARLINGTON—Patricia Louise (Latham) Caffey, 83, a native of El Paso, died March 4, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at First Bapt ist Church Arlington, 300 S. Center St., in Arlington. The service will be preceded by a visitation, beginning at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Caffey was a graduate of El Paso High School and Baylor University.

She was a real estate agent and appraiser from 1971 to 1983.

Mrs. Caffey also taught for the Arlington ISD for 20 years at Workman and Arlington High. She was the social studies department leader at Arlington High School and served as prom chairman for five years.

Mrs. Caffey was active in the community as vice president of the Cancer Research Foundation of North Texas Auxiliary, the Women of Rotary, Arlington Civic League, Women of Worth, president of Child Guidance Study Club.

She was the first president of the Zeta Tau Alpha House Corp. in Arlington and was responsible for building the Zeta Tau Alpha Chapter House on The University of Texas at Arlington campus. She was also secretary of the Pantego Planning & Zoning Commission.

Awards received include Young Woman of the Year in 1972 and Certificate of Merit from Zeta Tau Alpha, Pat Caffey Week declared by the Town of Pantego for the week of July 7-13 in 1991, Angel of Hope from the Cancer Research Foundation of North Texas in 1998, and Teacher of the Year at both Workman Junior High and Arlington High School.

Survivors are her husband of 60 years, James E. Caffey; three children, Jeff and Elizabeth Caffey, Jeanne and Terry Drapeau, Jerald and Jennifer Caffey; seven grandchildren, Caroline, Ethan, Emily, Robert, Rachel, Rose and Rebekah Caffey; a sister, Nancy Hendryx of Houston; and a brother, Bill and Tricia Latham of Niceville, Florida; also, many nieces and nephews.
