Carney

Our beloved wife, sister, mother of five, grandmother of 11, and friend, Beverly A. Carney, passed away at home on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the age of 70.

Beverly was born June 26, 1949, in Pittsburgh, Penns y l v a n i a , t o Bruce (Bill) and Nadine Parrish.

Beverly and her younger brother, Bruce, with whom she was extremely close, had very adventurous childhoods—moving numerous times between Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia.

She graduated from Bethel Park High School and attended University at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Her adventures carried on throughout her entire life, as evidenced when Beverly and Dennis, who met on a “blind date” to a high school senior prom in 1967, were married by August 1968.

They were blessed with five children, Dennis Jr., Stacy, Kevin, Kimberly and Melanie.

After Dennis graduated from Pitt in 1969 and was employed by Alcoa, Beverly’s wandering ways continued. They moved the young family seven times due to job transfers.

Fortunately, Bev loved to travel and experience new lives in new locations.

Beverly’s true calling in life was to help and serve others. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Beverly joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1964 in Dallas. Her testimony and faith never wavered.

She had a lifelong and keen interest in genealogy and traced many branches of combined family trees. Beverly also loved collecting nativity scenes from around the world.

After retiring from Alcoa, Dennis and Bev partnered with their son, Kevin, to start an orchard business in Cashmere, Washington. This was a very exciting endeavor and resulted in Beverly and Dennis living seven months in Texas and five months in Washington over the last 17 years.

Beverly ran the household in New Kensington, PA, Rockdale, Warrick, IN, Pittsburgh, PA, Wenatchee, WA, Portland Victoria, Australia, and back to Rockdale, were she most recently resided. This was all part of Beverly and Dennis’ wonderful lifetime of adventures together. Beverly and Dennis were happily married, and best friends, for close to 52 years.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Bruce (Bill) and Nadine Parrish-Drysdale.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Dennis Carney; her brother, Bruce and Debbie Parrish; their children, Dennis Carney Jr., Stacy and Gary Vickrey, Kevin and Valerie Carney, Kimberly and Brian Secrist, and Melanie and Jason Moody; their grandchildren, Austin Vickrey, Elizabeth Carney, Madeline Moody, Mesa Vickrey, Kyle Carney, Jack Carney, Molly-Jo Moody, Brett Secrist, Misty Carney, Jadon Moody and Luke Secrist; and her stepfather, Joseph Drysdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to encourage contributions to the American Heart Association.

A visitation was held Tuesday, May 5, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

There will be a private family service.

Pallbearers were Dennis Carney Jr., Kevin Carney, Austin Vickrey, Kyle Carney, Jack Carney, Brett Secrist, Jadon Moody and Luke Secrist.

Honorary pallbearers were Gary Vickrey, Jason Moody and Brian Secrist.
