Charlotte Ann (Tucker) Roepke, 72, of Taylor, formerly of Rockdale, passed away peacefully on Oct. 16, 2023, following a brief illness.

A celebration of l i fe service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastors Michael Roepke and Ronnie Dyer officiating. Burial will follow at Salty Cemetery.

Charlotte was born April 19, 1951, in Cameron to Charles Allen “Buddy” and Dorothy Laverne (Stephens) Tucker.

She was raised in Rockdale and grew up in and served many years at First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

She attended Rockdale High School and was a graduate of the class of 1969.

She was faithful for many years serving alongside her mother and sister in the nursery at First Baptist Church. Many children grew up in their early years in her loving arms.

She worked at Rockdale State Bank following high school, then became a homemaker to raise her sons, and finished her working career at Rockdale Elementary as a PE aide for many years, retiring in May 2016. Her schoolchildren loved her there, too, and even when her former students were in high school or as adults, they remembered “Mrs. Roepke” from PE in elementary school.

Charlotte met the love of her life while working at Rockdale State Bank, where she met Charles Roepke, who would later become her husband, and the father of her two sons, Christopher and Michael.

Prior to starting their family, the two enjoyed many activities together, including trail rides, horseback riding, fishing, camping, bicycling, walking, volleyball, and longhorn football.

In addition, she enjoyed sports and played volleyball at every opportunity she could take, playing in school, then with her husband, and then with her children and grandchildren. She loved to play any sport with her grandkids and to be present cheering them on as they played and participated in their activities.

She was a hard-worker and gave her all in everything.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, talking to everyone, and always had a smile on her face.

Her faith was a vital part of her life and over the years, she was a member at First Baptist Church Rockdale; Forest Grove Christian Church, Rockdale; New Hope Christian Church, Hutto; and visited many other churches around Central Texas to support her sons’ respective ministries.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Christopher; her son, Michael and wife Rachel and three grandchildren, Tucker, Mykenzie and Madison; a sister, Judy and husband Ronnie Dyer; nieces Stephanie and husband Troy Petty and family, Jennifer and husband Jay Carver and family; brother-inlaw Larry and wife Carolyn Roepke; and numerous other friends and family.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles, on April 28, 2023, and her parents, Charles and Dorothy Tucker.

Pallbearers will be Troy Petty, Jay Carver, David Gipson, Randy Kirk, Jesse Smith and William Smith.

Honorary pallbearer is Chip Longo.

In lieu of f lowers or plants, the family requests that donations be made to New Hope Christian Church Kids Building Fund (PO Box 669, Hutto TX 78634) or to the charity of the givers’ choice in her memory.
