Bradley Dwayne Cooper, 62, passed away on Aug. 4, 2023, at his home in Minerva.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Minerva Community Center. This will be a casual event and the family would like to invite friends and neighbors to share stories and anecdotes of their time with Brad. Breakfast pastries and light refreshments will be served.

Mr. Cooper was born in Slaton on Dec. 25, 1960, to Eddie Joe and Arvilla June Cooper, as the youngest of four children.

He began school in Lamesa before the family moved to Rockdale in 1974. He graduated from Rockdale High School in 1980 and went on to receive postsecondary training in Austin.

Mr. Cooper owned and ran Cooper Grocery in Minerva from 1982 to 2015.

He was a lifelong baseball and football enthusiast, with Texas sports teams being his favorite. He was a collector of obscure memorabilia, especially those involving his family.

Mr. Cooper loved researching his family tree and learning about his ancestors. He also loved the Lord and was a lontime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a man who was full of love and compassion and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Arvil Joe Cooper; his sisters, Shirley June Davenport and Linda Sue Beard; and many beloved pets.

Survivors are his nieces, Summer Davenport, Kaeley Darby and Cathy Anna Barnes; and his nephews, Michael Davenport, Matthew Beard, David Cooper and Jason Cooper; also, several grand-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department or Milam Touch of Love.
