Doss

Funeral services for Otto “Tutor” Doss age 92 of Rockdale were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.15, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Gary Veit of Peace Luthera n Church officiating. Burial was to follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mr. Doss was born March 13, 1929 in Milam County to Harry H. and Irma M. (Timmerman) Doss.

He was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1947 to 1951. He married his lifelong sweetheart Emma Jean Hilliard Aug. 30, 1952 in Rockdale.

He worked 37 years with Alcoa, retiring from the production department in 1989. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and also a member of Rockdale VFW Post 6525.

He loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Doss died Sunday morning, September 12, in the S.P.J.S.T. Nursing Home in Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jean Doss, on August 8, 2021 and his parents, Harry and Irma Doss.

Surviving is his son, Jamie Doss and wife Tracy of Rockdale; granddaughters, Christina Jimenez and husband Vincent of Rockdale and Natalie VanDelden and husband Jeff of Austin; and six great granddaughters, Hanna Jimenez, Haven Jimenez and Halle Jimenez all of Rockdale, Ava Bush, Lyla VanDelden and Violet VanDelden all of Austin.

Pallbearers are Vincent Jimenez, Jeff VanDelden, Donald Doss, Ken Lee Clark, Justin Fatheree and Mark Fatheree.
