HEARNE—Services for Carl Wayne Douglas, 80, were held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at All Families Mortuary Chapel in Hearne with Rev. Rodrick Jackson officiating. Burial was at Bryan City Cemetery in Bryan.

Mr. Douglas died Tuesday, Nov. 7.

He was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Milam County to Ennis Sr. and Inez Cliff Douglas.

He attended Milam County School System.

Mr. Douglas accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized at Goodwill Baptist Church.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1967 and received several commendations and awards.

Mr. Douglas resided in Hearne most of his adult life.

He was nicknamed “Soul Train” because of his love for music and his DJ skills.

He was a jack of all trades and, at one time, owned a record store and was also a skilled mechanic.

Mr. Douglas a collector of resellable items.

He married Sheila Donnell Douglas in March 1973.

She took care of him through sickness and health.

Mr. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Ennis Sr. and Inez Douglas; and his brothers, Willie Bowrdy, Ellis Sr., Jimmy Lee, Ennis Jr. and Billy Joe.

Survivors are his wife, Shelia; his children, Lorie, Raymond (Janice), Simmie Jr. “Petey,” Katrina, Lester (Jackie), Sharon (John), Christopher and honorary daughter, Sylinna Johnson; his siblings, Norman Earl (Ola Joyce), Catherine Griffin, Iopha Pierce, Emma Jewel Johnson (William); also, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Jaylan Douglas, Simmie Barber Jr., Lester Barlow, Henry Dykes, John Stewart and Ken Bartlett.

Honorary pallbearers were Christopher Douglas, Raymond Douglas, Ku-Vary Douglas, Gregory Donnell, Aaron Barlow and Wilbert Malone.
