CAMERON—Charles Ottis Ellis, 81 of Cameron died Sunday June 17, 2018, in a Temple hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Ellis was born Aug. 16, 1936, to James Floyd and Lona Ellen (Rowan) Ellis in Breckenridge.

He graduated from Hearne High School and went on to Texas A&M in 1955. He was in the Corp and played football for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.

On Feb. 9, 1957, he married Joyce Anne Wilkinson of Branchville and they moved to Pasadena where he was in the insurance business and she was in the banking business.

Mr. Ellis was active in youth sports and enjoyed family fishing and camping activities.

The Ellises started their own business in Houston in 1974 and moved it to Cameron in 1985.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years.

Survivors are two sisters, Imogene Ellis and Connie Ellis; a brother, Jim Ellis; two sons, Mark W. Ellis and wife Ravonnia, and Glenn W. Ellis; and four grandchildren, Brent Ellis, Morgan Moore, Garrett Moore and Neil Ellis; also, many nieces and nephews.
