Eugenia Facundo, 91, of Rockdale died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at her home in Rock-dale.
Her Mass was held Saturday, May 26, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rock-dale. Father Pedro Castillo and Deacon Gus Coelho of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated.
Rosary was recited Friday, May 25, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Mrs. Facundo was born in Belzoni, Mississippi, on March 20, 1927, to Ezequio and Guadalupe (Munoz) Serrato. She lived the past 32 years in Rock-dale, where she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In 1966, she married Homero H. Facundo Sr., in Rockdale.
Mrs. Facundo worked in dry cleaners in Rockdale for a number of years.
She loved to cook for her family and was known for her tamales.
Mrs. Facundo will be remembered as a kind, humble and generous woman who always had a smile on her face and a wave for everyone. Her priority was loving her husband, children and family. She worked hard to instill in her children and grandchildren her wisdom and strong family values. For her friends and family, her legacy will be her prayers and her love for God. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Facundo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Facundo Sr. on Jan. 19, 2005, and two granddaughters, Sarah Zapata and Ivone Facundo.
Surviving are two daughters, Terri Zapata and husband Nick of Crossett, Arkansas, Mary Zapata and husband Steve of Rockdale; two sons, Richard Serrato, Homer Facundo Jr. and wife Lollie, all of Rock-dale; a brother, David Serra-to of Ohio; a sister, Mary Lou Bowman of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Laura Zapata, Stephanie Zapata, Michael Ray Zapata and wife Gloria, Nick Zapata Jr., Michelle, Sara and Ivan Facundo; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Ryan Zapata and Bianca Renee Zapata.
Pallbearers were Nick Zapata, Steve Zapata, Michael Ray Zapata, Victor Contreras, Mario Facundo and Arnold Contreras.
