Graveside services for Sam Houston Ferguson, 87, of Fairfield will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale with Pastor Garland Moffett of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 12-noon Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Ferguson was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Rockdale to Jesse Dan and Mary E. (Johnson) Ferguson.

He married Betty Joyce Ottmer on Oct. 9, 1955, in Sharp.

Mr. Ferguson had lived in Fairfield since 1971, moving there from Rockdale.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955, was a plant mechanic and supervisor for the power plant in Rockdale and Fairfield, was a Real Estate broker and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service and the Fairfield ISD.

Mr. Ferguson enjoyed fishing and had served as the president of the Bass Club in Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Ferguson; his mother, Mary Ferguson Tucker; two brothers, L.M. “Jim” Ferguson and J.D. Ferguson; and a sister, Bernice Ferguson Hamilton.

Survivors are his wife, Joyce Ferguson of Fairfield; a son, Charles Ferguson and wife Joy of Plano; a grandson, Christopher Ferguson of Plano; a sister, Ginger Sparks of Galveston; and extended family members, Spencer Villarrel and Parker Edison.
