Frank Ramirez Jr.

Frank Ramirez Jr., 53 of Austin, formerly of Rock-dale, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock.

Mass was held Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with Rev. Pedro Castillo officiating. Burial was at San Jose Cemetery in Hearne.

Rosary was held during visitation on Friday, Nov. 29, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Ramirez was born April 12, 1966, in Hearne to Frank and Lydia (Barrera) Ramirez.

He was a 1984 graduate of Rockdale High School and attended Sam Houston State University until he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves and played for two seasons.

Mr. Ramirez moved to Round Rock and earned an associate degree with Southwestern School of Electronics.

He began his career as a software technician engineer with Alcoa in Rockdale as a supervisor, then at Poly-com, Hewlett-Packard and, most recently, at Brillo.

Mr. Ramirez lived to play ball—baseball, football, basketball, softball, kickball—and he excelled at them all.

He was the life of the party full of stories, songs, comedy and dance.

His life was devoted to his son, Kolton, and his faith in God never wavered.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecilia and Cruz Barrera, Carlos and Benita Ramirez.

Survivors are a son, Kolton Ramirez of Round Rock; his parents, Frank and Lydia Ramirez of Rock-dale; two brothers, Cruz and wife Natalie Ramirez of Cedar Park, Danny and wife Sherry Ramirez of Rock-dale; and his nieces and nephews, Brandon, MaKayla, Ryleigh and Reese.

Pallbearers were T.J. Barrera, Lusio Llana, Darren Mitchell, Aaron Schnelle, Paul Skubal and Roosevelt “Buster” Williams.
