Margaret Louise Green, 83, of Rockdale died Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Ignite Medical Rehabilitation Resort in Austin.

The family will have a viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the funeral home with a viewing starting at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Green (“Granny”) was born on July 28, 1939, to Johnnie Davis and Tommie Louise (Fair) Sanders in Rockdale.

She graduated from Aycock High School. She then went on to graduate from Prairie View A&M University and obtained her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She also received an early childhood development certification from Texas A&M University.

Mrs. Green taught kindergarten at Rockdale Elementary School for 33 years, where she was nominated “Teacher of The Year.”

On Jan. 21, 1982, she married Elias Green in Rockdale.

She was a phenomenal woman that touched many lives throughout the years. She had a deep love for God and the church. Mrs. Green was a member

Mrs. Green was a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. She was loved by her family, friends, and church family.

She was a historian and a self-made genealogist. She helped to obtain a historical plaque for Springfield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Green loved God, her family, her husband and her three daughters were her joy. Her favorite things to do

Her favorite things to do were shopping, cooking, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Davis and Tommie Louise Sanders; a sister, Alice Williams; and a stepson, Richard Green.

Survivors are her husband, Elias Green of Rockdale; her daughters, Felecia Wesley and husband Lawrence Wesley Sr., Lanell Baker (Tony Baker, deceased), Melanie McBride and husband Charlie McBride Jr., all of Round Rock; her goddaughter, Jessica Green and partner Christopher Jackson of Rockdale; a sister, Johnny Banks (James Banks, deceased) of Rockdale; her nephews, James Vincent Banks and wife Barbara Banks of Round Rock, Jhamhon Nealy and husband Michael Nealy of Fort Worth, Michael Williams and wife Sophia of Saginaw; her grandchildren, Lawrence Wesley and wife Leilah Wesley, Charles Jonathon Wesley and fiancé Ashley, Tommie Louise Wesley, Demetrius A. Baker, TreAnna F.L. McBride, Aliyah McBride, Frederick McBride, and Jaci’Rae Cato; and her great-grandchildren, Aria Wesley, Zion Wesley, Taylon Baker, Jerrod Jones, Kaden Dees and Jackson Rhodes; also, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
