Birdie Joyce Hill, 79, while in Round Rock and surrounded by family, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

She was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She will be most remembered for her kind, loving spirit, her contagious laugh and gift of acceptance.

Birdie was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Hazlehurst, Georgia, to Henry and Polly (Wilson) Bailey.

On July 24, 1965, she and Everett L. Hill Jr., were married in Sylvester, Worth County, Georgia, and she devoted her love and caring in being a homemaker and mother. They made their home in the country near Rockdale the past 25 years.

Surviving family members include her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Everett L. Hill Jr. of Rockdale; daughter Connie Gutierrez and husband Albert of Kyle; sons Woody Sizemore and wife Gaylynn of Georgetown, Rodney Hill, Breck Hill Sr. and Theresa Martin of Rockdale and Blake Hill of Rockdale; siste, Grace Brown of Metairie, Louisiana; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Birdie relished her role as Meemaw to her 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two of her children, Cathy Sizemore on July 19, 2005, and Scott Sizemore on July 1, 2018. Also, her parents, Henry Bailey on Jan. 26, 1963, and Polly Bailey on Aug. 4, 1976; four brothers, Aaron Jackson Bailey in 1985, Roy Allen Bailey in 2011, James Malcomb Bailey in 2012 and Ralph Hamilton Bailey in 2013; and a sister, Hazel Lillian Bailey in 2004.

Mass and Celebration of Life Service for Birdie are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with Rev. Pedro Castillo officiating. Burial will follow at the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale.

Visitation is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Active pallbearers are Woody Sizemore, Blake Hill, Gregory Hill, Albert Gutierrez, Derek Gutierrez, Trey Sizemore, Matthew Bailey and Ivan Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers are J.R. Parks and Mike Izzard.
