Charles Michael “Mike” Jones, 72, of Minerva passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at his home in Minerva.

Services for Mike are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. and then the service time at 12-noon at Milam County Cowboy Church in Rockdale with Pastor Greg Spears officiating. Burial will follow at Minerva Cemetery in Minerva.

Mike was born Sept. 10, 1949, in Victoria, to Thomas Jefferson and Marie (Pasley) Jones.

He graduated from South Houston High School. .

He served in the U.S. Army from June 18, 1971, to Sept. 17, 1971, earning a sharpshooter rifle badge.

He was a supervisor with TxDOT and retired in June of 2009 after 39 years.

On Aug. 27, 1976, he and Cathy Frost were married in Pasadena. They have lived in Minerva the past 12 years, having moved from Kemah.

Mike was a member of Milam County Cowboy Church in Rockdale and a member of Minerva Volunteer Fire Department.

He loved to hunt and fish and take cruises on ships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Jones, and a sister, Pat Haines.

Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Cathy Jones of Minerva; son Chadwick Jones of Galveston; daughters Chandal Franger and husband Ryan of Cove, and Stacey Jones Wilson of Manuel; and five grandchildren, Chandler Jones, Kendal Franger, Reed Franger, Richard Wilson and Casey Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Preston Muston, Curtis Todd, Chandler Jones, Brazos Jones, Roddy Gage and Mike Todd.
