Kennedy

Geneva D. Kennedy, 94, of Arlington, formerly of Rockdale, died Monday, May 18, 2020, at Avalon Memory Care in Arlington.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will follow at Walkers Creek Cemetery near Cameron.

Mrs. Kennedy was born April 29, 1926, in Whitesboro to Henry and Serena (Boaz) Dutton.

She was a graduate of Wilson N. Jones School of Nursing in Sherman.

Mrs. Kennedy worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals, doctors’ offices and with home health care.

On Aug. 28, 1949, she married Monroe William “Bill” Kennedy in Whitesboro. They also lived in Freeport before coming to Rockdale.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Kennedy on Dec. 13, 2008; her siblings, Rex Dutton, Henrietta Elliott, Ted Dutton and Sue Marbury; a niece, Gena Franklin; and a nephew, Clif Dutton.

Survivors are a brother-in-law, Howard Kennedy of Sweeny; her nephews, Clifton Marbury of Arlington, Thomas Marc Marbury of Nolanville; and her nieces, Lisa Dutton of San Antonio, Annette Watson of Goldthwaite, Fran Askew of Mansfield, Brenda Hoffman of Sadler, Eve Inman of Bedford, Pam Tietze of Mansfield and Cathy Woods of Sadler.
