Billy Jack Kirkpatrick, 79, of Friendswood and longtime resident of Alvin, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

He was born Nov. 22, 1940, to General Richard Kirkpatrick and Maggie Fortenberry Kirkpatrick in Honey Grove, and had one brother, Richard Magness Kirkpatrick.

He married his high school sweetheart, Janice Loye Smith of Rockdale, and had three daughters.

Billy attended school in Rockdale and graduated in 1958. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served for 3½ years. At the completion of his military service, Billy began working at Monsanto where he remained a loyal employee until his retirement.

Billy came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a child. He shared his love for Christ by volunteering his time at Second Mile Missions in Missouri City and ministering to prison inmates.

He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf.

Billy was preceded in death by his father, General Richard Kirkpatrick, mother, Maggie Lorene Kirkpatrick and his brother Richard Magness Kirkpatrick.

Billy is survived by his loving wife Janice; and daughters Donna Whatley, Judy Blunck and husband Billy Blunck, Karen Renfro and husband James Renfro.

He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Whatley, Lindsay Whatley, Randall Nathan Whatley, Ashley Newell, Tiffany Rieves, Justin Loving, Tiffany Dickey, Joshua Manuel, Dustin Renfro, James Renfro Jr.; 22 great-grandchildren, and other family and cherished friends.
