Floyd Joseph Kruse Jr., 72, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at his residence in Rockdale.

A celebration of life will be held at the SPJST Lodge 29, 5025 FM 619 in Taylor, on Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at 1 p.m.

Floyd was born on the Fourth of July in 1950 at John’s Community Hospital in Taylor to parents Floyd Joseph Kruse Sr. and Lillie Ana Johanna (Synatzske) Kruse.

He worked for the city of Thorndale until his retirement in 2017.

His passions included gardening, participating in barbecue competitions, spending time with his family and friends and, most of all, watching football, especially his favorite team, the TCU Horned Frogs.

Floyd cherished his time with friends and family and was always happy when they came to visit.

He loved to play dominoes, cut wood for his barbecue cook-off friends and share vegetables from his garden. He loved his neighbors as family and was known by them as “the Sheriff of G Hill.”

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lillie Kruse, and a brother- in-law, Donald Kuempel.

Survivors are his children, Kristie Jones and husband Willie of Taylor, Lisa Lindley and husband Eric of Aledo, Crystal Kruse of Waco, Bobby Ray Kruse of Taylor; his grandchildren, Johnathan Kruse, Bailee and Lily Lindley, and Adam Kruse; a sister, Jeanette Kuempel of Austin; a brother Jimmie Ray Kruse of Taylor; a nephew, Donnie Kuempel and wife Michelle of Pflugerville; and a niece, Diane Heselmeyer and husband Jeff of Taylor.

Floyd will be missed incredibly by his family and friends.
