Linda Ruth Jones

A funeral service for Linda Ruth Jones, 65, of Rockdale will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Matt Higgin-botham officiating. Burial will be at Gause Cemetery in Gause.

Visitation is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones was born March 22, 1955, to James Chapel and Hazel Beatrice (Smith) Sledge in Navasota. On Jan. 17, 1975, she mar

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker, worked at Rockdale Inn Restaurant and as a cashier for Brookshire Brothers and Walmart. She was a member of

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale and was a Sunday School teacher at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Jones was also a member of Rockdale VFW Post 6525 Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, working on cars, playing softball and square dancing.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel Sledge; her husband, George Andrew Jones; and a brother, Robert Brown.

Survivors are two sons, James Edward Jones of Rockdale, David Wayne Diver of Cedar Park; two daughters, Brenda Lee McCullough of Bryan, Kimberly Grace Elias of Bryan; five brothers, Johnny Burch of Lake Jackson, James Sledge of Bryan, Charles Sledge of Port Lavaca, David Burton of Freeport, Rusty Sledge of Rockdale; three sisters, Wanda Jones of Jones Creek, Lois L. Wright of Alvin, Missy Annette Flowers of DeKalb; her grandchildren, Sheila Walker, Dominque Jones, Cheyenne McCullough, Dakota Jones, Katelin Perkins, Joshlin Jones, Janelle Jones, Kyle Sorensen, Cory Sorensen and Hailey Sorensen; and her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Walker, Lincoln Walker, Hudson Walker, Zabain Wells, Aron Medez, and two on the way.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Sorensen, Cory Sorensen, Dakota Jones, Clemente Mendez, Jimmarion Wells, Ryan Lambert, Eric Jones and Jesus Sanchez.
