Dr. David Franklin Lovett, 75, of Lubbock passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023.

David was born on June 2, 1948, in Olney to Dr. Raymond and Hazel Lovett. He grew up in Olney and graduated from Olney High School in 1966.

David attended Texas A&M University in College Station and received his Bachelor of Science in 1970 and Master’s Degree in 1972. In David 1975 graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry.

He retired from a career as a dentist at Covenant Health System of Lubbock.

He was a member of First Christian Broadway Church of Lubbock.

His favorite sports teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Texas A&M Aggies.

His hobbies included woodworking, raising cattle and hunting.

While earning his masters at Texas A&M, David worked on experiments that were associated with the Apollo 16 space flight.

David was a member of the Scottish Rite of Lubbock, El Maida Shrine, El Paso, The Texas Dental Association and Texas Cattle Raisers Association.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Marcella Bush Lovett; brothers Dr. Robert Lovett, Steve Lovett, Dale Lovett; sister-in-law Marlene Pack and husband Roger, their son Chance; brother in-law Gary Bush; a host of nieces and nephews and lots of friends; his and Marcella’s fur babies, Ruby and Wille.

David was preceded death by his parents and a brother, Raymond.

A celebration of David’s life will be held a later date.
