William D. “Bill” Luckey, 86, of Rockdale passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, in Temple.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thurs day, Oct. 12, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Luckey Officiating will be Berry Methvin. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bill was born Feb. 25, 1937, to Warner Glenn and Savannah Susan (Anthis) Luckey in Houston.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 28 years of honorable service as a senior master sergeant.

During retirement, he worked for Nelson’s Pest Control and the Texas Employment Commission.

On Oct. 1, 2010, he married Avis Schlottman in Rockdale.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended the Apostolic Faith Church.

He loved playing the guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Savannah Luckey; his first two wives; and his twin brother, Harold Luckey.

Bill is survived by his wife, Avis Luckey of Rockdale; a daughter, Pamela Carrico and husband Randy of San Augustine; two sons, James Luckey and wife Tasha of Temple, Cliff Luckey and wife Janet of Salado; a half-brother, Glenn Luckey of Brownsville; two nieces, Jacquetta Brown of Tyler, and Donna Ferguson of Mexico; two nephews, Kelton Brown of Tyler and Steve Schlottman of Hearne; and a sister-in-law, Linda Brown of Tyler; also, a number of grandchildren and other nieces and nephews.
