McDaniel

Marie Louise (Van Steen) McDaniel was born May 7, 1933, to Auguste and Jean Van Steen.

My beautiful precious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother Marie Louise (V a n Steen) McDaniel passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, with family and angels singing “Victory in Jesus.”

Lou came to the United States just after World War II and her father was killed as the Germans were leaving Brussels, Belgium.

She became U.S. citizen, attended and graduated A&M Consolidated High School.

Lou was a lover of life, had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. Her favorite place to travel was her beloved birthplace of Belgium, where she still had family and friends. She loved traveling all over the United States and would easily make friends wherever she went.

She loved to dance, was a great cook, appreciated a good piece of chocolate and was a great storyteller. She loved America and was a proud American but still loved her Belgium roots!

Lou worked and retired at Agency Records Control and Agency Management Systems for 25 years in September 1995 as accounts payable manager.

Lou was preceded in death by her father, Auguste, and her mother, Jean Van Steen.

Lou is survived by her husband, Keith D. McDaniel of Bryan; her daughter, Jeannie Petit and husband Thomas of Georgetown; her daughter, Michelle Dell’Ora of Georgetown; her son Paul Richards and wife Billie of Winigan, Missouri; her son, Bruce Richards of Bryan; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and her cousin, Louise Van Steen DeWaele and husband Marcel of Brussels, Belgium.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Adam Dell’Ora, Erick Dell’Ora, David Petit, Billy Richards, and close friends James Lyerly, Mike Birdsell. Honorary pallbearers are Rebecca Dell’Ora, Shane O’Patchen.

Officiating will be Bro. Dana Altimore of Five Points Baptist Church. Services are set for Friday, Jan. 28, with visitation from 10 am-12 noon and the funeral starting at 12 noon at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, in Rockdale. Burial will be at Locklin Cemetery in San Gabriel.

Arrangements by Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, P.O. Drawer 1417, Rockdale, TX 76567, 512-446-5454.
