McIrvin

Elmer Archie McIrvin, 82, of Rockdale died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2020, at the VA Hospital in Temple.

There will be a private family service.

Mr. McIrvin was born Feb. 16, 1938, to Orlie and Goldie (Eagleburger) McIrvin in Wray, Colorado.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving for 17 years. He was stationed in quite a few places, including Vietnam, Antarctica and Rhode Island.

While in Rhode Island, he met Mary Geraldine LaBarge and married her on June 28, 1968, in Norton, Massachusetts.

Mr. McIrvin was preceded in death by his parents, Orlie and Goldie McIrvin; a son, James McIrvin; and his siblings.

Survivors are his wife, Mary McIrvin of Rockdale; a son, Elmer Archie McIrvin Jr. of Rockdale; two daughters, Margaret Kerns, Tammy Barnett and husband Tilmon, all of Rockdale; and a daughter-in-law, Mary McIrvin; also, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
